How many times have you said, “been there, done that” or “been there, done that, got the t-shirt” when talking about your experiences? That just might make you an expert!
I am reading The Millionaire Messenger by Brendon Burchard. If you have not read it, read it as soon as you can get your hands on it. It’s that good! The short summary from the cover sheet of the book is “Make a Difference and a Fortune Sharing Your Advice.” You can buy the book from Amazon by clicking here.
What did you whisper? You are not an expert. Brendon and I beg to differ with you on that. There are many types of “experts” and I want to talk about one of those with you today.
Been There, Done That – The Results Expert
If you have traveled 100 miles, the person behind you has traveled less. What have you encountered that they have not? What situations or circumstances have you come through that you can share insight and wisdom about?
By accomplishing some basic things in life, you have built what Brendon calls “accidental expertise.” In case you missed it, click here to watch my video on Facebook.
Even though you might not consider yourself an expert, you might know the ONE thing that Joe, the new business owner, is trying to figure out. He will pay you for the answer.
If you have “been there, done that” you have experience in helping someone who has not encountered that yet.
Here’s the thing, “been there, done that” – the …
- “that” is part of a story you can tell.
- “that” is a lesson you could teach.
- “that” is a business you could have.
Think about the experiences you have had and what you have learned. Ask yourself questions like …
- What are three things that you have learned about managing money?
- What are three things that you have learned about being a good spouse?
- What are three things that you have learned about helping others?
I added those topics to give you an idea. Replace them with the things that you have learned.
A good way to start documenting those experiences is on a blog. What’s a blog? You are reading one right now.
That’s a wrap for today.
Remember this:
