Has anyone ever told you that you needed an attitude adjustment? What do you think they meant? I don’t know about you, but most of the times I heard someone say that, it was not good. It meant that someone was grumpy and showing off their stinkin’ thinkin’.
Doesn’t it feel good to be around people who are upbeat and positive? You can just sense that life is full of possibilities? Not just their life, but it spills over into yours as well.
I pulled this quote from a 2010 Huffington Post article but it is still relevant today.
“When we surround our environment with people who believe in the harshness of life we are drained of energy and vitality. Therefore, the choice is really up to us – do we want to reach the stars or do we want to stay on the ground constantly looking up secretly wishing that we were among the dazzling jewels that grace the heavens. A strong, positive and resilient attitude will help elevate you to unimaginable heights.”
I mentioned this topic in my #30in30VideoChallenge this morning. Here’s the short video I shot this morning in case you didn’t see it on Facebook.
Your attitude creates every event in your life.
What is attitude?
According to that same article in Huffington Post,
“It is the mental state or position you take regarding your life and affairs. This means its not what you think but how you think it.”
Psychology.About.com tell us
“Psychologists define attitudes as a learned tendency to evaluate things in a certain way. This can include evaluations of people, issues, objects, or events.”
Take a look at your friends and the people you hang out with and ask yourself these questions:
- Do they have a healthy and positive attitude?
- Do you REALLY enjoy spending time with them?
- Do you walk away from them feeling better than you did when you got there?
If you answered “no” to any of those questions…RUN! And run fast. You will become like them. Is that what you want? Didn’t think so.
I love Steve Harvey. Here’s a video where he was talking with a recent college graduate. You know, young people get swept up in fear, low self-esteem, and doubt too. Steve talks with her about how having a powerful and confident attitude can help with her job search. The video is pretty short and think you will find some value in it.
When I talk about attitude and positive thinking, I always have thoughts of Zig Ziglar and his teachings. I found a video clip from one of his trainings and wanted to include it because he illustrates just how much things change when we change how we look at them. I believe I mentioned something about Wayne Dyer’s quote,
“when we change how we look at things, the things we look at change.”
I did not include the video, because the YouTube channel that I found it on had a comment about unauthorized content and I couldn’t find that actual clip on the Zig Ziglar site. Sorry you lead you on that way! You can search for it if you want to take a look
Bottom line is: Attitude Affects Altitude. As I mentioned in my video this morning. Determine how you want to show up in life. Take on that belief. Become that person. You will rise high my friend.
I hope you found value in my rambling, er I mean writing, today. That’s a wrap for today…with the exception of my reminder for you.
Dream Big.
Believe in Yourself.
Do the Work.
You can do it. I believe in you!!
How about that attitude. Any adjustment needed?
See you next time.
