Do you read everyday? Let’s move away from the reading you and I do on Social Media. We can get so busy (or sidetracked) by all of the information coming at us throughout the day that we forget that there are actually BOOKS we can read.
Welcome to MOJO Monday!
Today, as you might have guessed, we are talking about the power of reading. I shot this video for you early this morning. Go ahead and take a look.
What will reading daily do for you?
How many ways can you think of that reading everyday might make your life, your business, or your relationships better? Let’s start with just some basics.
- Gain knowledge
- Increase your vocabulary
- Improve your spelling
- Expand your reality
Once you are exposed to new and different ways of talking and thinking about life, business, travel, or anything else, you are never the same. Do you agree?
Here is a great TEDTalk that I believe you will enjoy. Lisa Bu: How books can open your mind. It’s just a little over six minutes but worth it.
“Magic portals to connect” and books “get us in touch with where dreams come from” are two of my favorite quotes from the video.
Developing the habit of reading every day can change your life. Now, a lot depends on what type of books you read and your intention. Yes, I set an intention before I get settled in to read. Do you?
Reading is just life anything else. “Garbage in. Garbage out.” So, you might want your reading to be books that will inspire, enlighten, or entertain you.
I mentioned the following books in my MOJO Monday video this morning. Again…notice that they both have the word START in them.
Here is a bit more about the books that I mentioned this morning in my video. If you have not already read them, I suggest you pick up a copy at your local library or purchase them.
- Start with Why by Simon Sinek.
- Punch Fear in the Face. Escape Average. Do Work That Matters. START. by Jon Acuff
- I learned a new way to look at what is really important in my life and how much of my time and energy I was actually giving them. Not much! Start provided the inspiration for two blog posts. If you didn’t get an opportunity to read them, here are the links. How much is your dream worth? and Meet me on the Road to Awesome.
Reading can stir the passion. Passion creates motivation. Motivation fuels inspiration. Inspiration brings emotion. Emotion creates motion. This gets you to the STARTing line. See, I told you we would come back around to the word START.
If you are not already doing it, I encourage you to develop the habit of reading a book every day. One of my mentors suggests that you read a book a week. Imagine what all you could learn by reading 52 books in a year! If you implemented his practice on June 1, 2015 you would read 30 books by the end of 2015. How amazing is that? There is no limit to your greatness.
I hope you found this helpful today. Please take a minute and leave a comment so that I will know you stopped by. There are social share buttons on the left side (if you are on a desktop or laptop) and across the bottom (if on a mobile device). I would appreciate your spreading the word if you liked what you read today.
That wraps it up for today. As always, I want to remind you to:
Dream Big.
Believe in Yourself.
Do The Work.
You can. You will. I believe in you. Are you ready?
See you next time,
Deb Bennett
