30 Days with Tony Robbins transformed my life! Really?
Well, I didn’t actually stay with or see Tony Robbins every day for 30 days. Truth is, I was listening to his Personal Power audio cassettes. Yes, you read it right. Cassettes! That was more than 20 years ago.
I want to share my story about this mentor because my life was literally transformed during that 30 day program. Advertising brought us together. The late night kind. You know, infomercials. You know the story. Couldn’t sleep. Up late. Feeling sorry for myself. Can you relate?
Then I see this young man talking about making a million dollars by the time he was 19 years old.
19 years old!
I was impressed…and intrigued. The fact that his story went on to say how he lost it all didn’t change anything.
I hung onto the belief that if you can achieve something so far out of your reach one time, you can do it again.
Do you have a mentor in your life right now? I have mentors in my life right now, many of them. And I am grateful for each and every one of them. I will be sharing some of those stories in the weeks to come.
I was just on the eve of starting my first business when I purchased and started listening to Tony’s “Personal Power” program. Funny thing, it was the first investment I made in myself for any type of personal or professional development.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I had self-confidence that I could succeed in anything I wanted to do. My parents instilled that in me. I am grateful to them for that. There are many who are told the opposite. But at that particular time, my confidence level had dipped a bit and it seemed that I was not on the same page with many people. I was struggling…and I didn’t like it.
So this “30 Days with Tony Robbins“ was years and years ago. You might say, “Deb, why are you talking about it now? Let’s move on.” The knowledge that I was exposed to and the lessons that I learned over that 30 days changed my life forever.
What did I learn?
Did I learn anything new? Yes, I did, but what has stayed with me over all of these years is that making that investment, keeping the commitment, doing the assignments, and allowing my world to expand, was the transformation.
You see, I had never really done anything for myself before. My beliefs were, well, mine and I kept them guarded. When I listened to Tony talk about how I could change my thoughts, my association with particular words, events, outcomes, I knew I had found a kindred spirit. I was not alone. That realization was transformational. It solidified my beliefs. I gained the courage to be me.
So how about now?
That was my first experience with any type of mindset training or focus. He taught about taking control of your personal power. The science of neuro-associative conditioning. The power of focus. Values and beliefs. Anchoring yourself. Conditioning yourself. Overcoming fears. And much much more. You can find out more about his products here.
There are many things that I learned from that cassette series. These two thoughts stuck with me.
“You are your only limitation.”
“You have the potential for unlimited success in every area of your life.”
What I embraced from those two statements is that I am in control of MY life.
- I get to choose how I live it.
- I get to choose if I am happy or sad.
- Am I doing work that I love or not?
- Am I spending time with those whom I love spending time with or not?
- Am I BEING rather than doing all of the time?
I will forever be thankful for the Tony Robbins infomercial that night! There have been other personal and professional development tools and trainings that I have purchased over the years. Some have been good, some not so good. Whether a good product or not, I am a better version of myself for listening to them…and an even better version, when I applied what I learned!
We have a inspiring product that I use now that in some ways does same type of mindset training that was in that Personal Power series. It’s called the Inner Circle and one of my CORE commitments is to listen to one of the audios every day. Not some days but EVERY day. Why? Because when you can change your thoughts, you can change your life.
Tony also says, “Remember, change is automatic; progress is not. If you do nothing, your body’s going to change, your finances are going to change, your relationships are going to change. The true question is, are you making progress in the areas of life that matter to you most? Progress is the result of conscious choice; a decision to take action to make your life better today.”
You like to feel like you are making progress, right? I know I do! It feels great when you can mark those tasks off your list, moving one or two steps closer to where you want to be.
It’s all about mindset. It’s belief that you can do it – whatever “it” is. It’s making the decision that you want “it” more than anything else and that you will do “it.” No. Matter. What.
Stir the passion. Passion creates motivation. Motivation fuels inspiration. Inspiration brings emotion. Emotion creates motion. Let’s get moving toward what is important! Are you ready to make progress?
Until next time…
Dream big. Believe in yourself. Do the work.
